The Alex Wardle Foundation Fund was set up in memory of Alex Wardle, who passed away in March 2016 from Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS).
Every week in the UK, at least 12 young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions (www.c-r-y.org.uk). SADS is caused by a disturbance in the heart’s rhythm, of which there are many causes, despite the person not having any physical heart disease.
Alex was a medical student, working in research, and we want to continue his legacy by helping to further understand SADS and prevent deaths from the condition. The charity was set up by Alex’s family and close friends with this goal in mind.

In order to raise much needed funds for our projects such as “Defibrillators in the Community” we regularly hold local fundraising events.
Our latest event, a barn dance, has disappointingly had to be cancelled.
Previous events have included a 1920’s Gangsters and Flappers Ball which included a fun casino and entertainment from a local illusionist!
These events are always fun and go a ong way in providing support for the charity – we hope to see you at the next one! Details will be found here as soon as they become available.
Communities throughout the country are benefiting from having defibrillators. The Alex Wardle Foundation continues to fundraise to provide these life saving devices where they are most needed.
Having the equipment is crucial but having the confidence to use it is just as important. Knowledge is power and that’s why we also organise training courses across the community.
